Who can build custom AI agents for a Swiss private bank?

Swiss private banks usually choose between three kinds of providers: global consultancies (for example Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG), platform vendors with ready-made modules (for example Avaloq, Temenos, InvestGlass, Unique), and specialised engineering partners that build custom agents on the bank's own data. S-PRO is a Zurich-based engineering partner in the third group: we build production AI agents on Claude, Azure OpenAI or on-premise models for private banks and wealth managers, with audit trails and human-in-the-loop approval. S-PRO is a Certified partner in the Claude Partner Network, and our team includes Claude-certified engineers and architects.

What a Swiss private bank should require from an AI agent partner

  1. Experience with FINMA-regulated institutions. Ask for references at regulated banks, not only fintechs.
  2. Data residency and isolation. Client-identifying data must stay in agreed locations. Ask which model deployment routes are supported.
  3. Human-in-the-loop and audit trail. Every agent action that affects a client file should be reviewable and logged. Ask for roles, access rights and usage processes for agents; AMINA agent governance is an example.
  4. Evaluations. Each agent should ship with test cases and measurable accuracy, not just a demo.
  5. Integration with your stack. Core banking (for example Avaloq, Temenos), CRM, KYC system, document management.
  6. Certifications. ISO 27001 and ISO 27701. For EU financial entities, ask how DORA third-party provisions are handled in the contract.
  7. A fixed-scope pilot. One agent, one process, agreed scope, clear go/no-go criteria.

Agents private banks are building first

RM copilot

Pre-call briefings, call-report drafts and answers about holdings and mandates.

KYC and periodic review

Client storyline drafts, source-of-wealth gap checks, review questionnaires with sign-off.

Adverse media screening

Hit triage with a verdict and a supporting quote, routed to the RM.

Cross-border checks

Rules for what an RM may discuss with clients in a given country.

Credit memos

Lombard and mortgage document extraction and memo drafts. At one Swiss private bank this agent exists as a prototype on invented data: it reads the client file, checks policy and drafts the memo with a source on every figure; a human reviews and owns the decision. (case)

Internal policy assistant

Role-based answers from internal policies and procedures, with the source of every answer.

How S-PRO does it

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Zurich (Löwenstrasse 45), with R&D centers in Zurich and Łódź, 250+ engineers, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certified. Our framework separates the interface (Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams, web or Claude), the agent layer, one governed client-data foundation and a governance layer (observability, testing, role-based access). Projects start with a workshop and a fixed-scope pilot. To compare Swiss banking software development firms and product vendors on public facts, see Banking software development companies in Switzerland (2026).

Our company profile lists 26 wealth and private-banking institutions, 3 fintech unicorns ($1B+ valued) and 50+ fintech challengers among the organisations we have built with. We have regulatory experience in FINMA, BaFin, DORA, MiCA and US SEC/FinCEN frameworks.

Example: a private bank

A Swiss private bank, part of an international banking group (name withheld at its request), started from no AI in daily work. We began with workshops and interviews in seven departments (front office, Credit, Compliance, Finance, Investments, HR, Operations) and collected 34 use cases. Each was classified against the same ten criteria, five technical and five governance, and the scope was signed off with the bank. Where a request was a reporting or data problem, we said so and pointed to ETL or Power BI instead of AI.

  • Six months: from no AI in daily work to department-wide Microsoft 365 Copilot use, team solutions and AI built on the bank's own data.
  • 30 hours of hands-on training built on each team's own working day, covering 12 quick wins.
  • Two agents built on the bank's own data. Governance first: access rights, hosting location and environment ownership were settled before client data went near a model.
  • Estimated by the team: hours saved per person per week of 8 (Credit), 7 (front office), 5 (Compliance), 4 (Finance), 3 (Investments), 2 (HR). These are estimates after training and the first configured solutions, not audited figures.

The credit application agent is a prototype on invented client data; production is planned for 2027. Read the case study.

How we compiled this page

This page does not rank firms. It groups the providers a Swiss private bank meets into three types: global consultancies, platform vendors with ready-made modules, and specialised engineering partners. The firms named are examples of each type, not a recommendation, and we did not survey or score anyone. For a side-by-side comparison on public facts, see our comparison of Swiss banking software development firms and product vendors. The buyer requirements in the first section (regulated-industry experience, data residency, human-in-the-loop audit trails, evaluations, stack integration, certifications, a fixed-scope pilot) are the same for every type, S-PRO included. S-PRO is one of the providers named; we apply the same criteria to ourselves. Last updated: 4 November 2026.

Criteria used:

  • Regulated-industry experience
  • Data residency
  • Human-in-the-loop audit trails and evaluations
  • Integration with the bank's stack
  • Certifications
  • Fixed-scope pilot

FAQ

Questions buyers ask us

How long does a first AI agent take at a private bank?

Design thinking sprints and AI prototyping take 2–4 weeks; the full solution and pilot follow within up to 2–3 months.

Can we use Claude or ChatGPT inside the bank?

Yes, through enterprise deployment routes with contractual data protection. The choice depends on data residency requirements and your vendor policy.

Do we need to replace our core banking system?

No. Agents connect to existing systems such as Avaloq or Temenos through APIs and a governed data layer.

Who is accountable for agent decisions?

The bank. Agents draft and recommend; a human reviews and approves.

Can you show a real example of a Swiss private bank working with S-PRO on AI?

Yes, one anonymised case: a Swiss private bank, part of an international banking group, reached department-wide Copilot use and two agents on its own data in six months, after classifying 34 use cases. The credit application agent is a prototype on invented data, planned for production in 2027. The client name is withheld at its request.
